21st Aug : A day of Commemorations

Today 21 August is a day I always remember for two things. First is because of a reason I share with the entire Filipino People – Ninoy’s Assassination which is also declared a holiday for the entire country. Second is something I shared will all my classmates in college, and colleagues, my alma mater STI’s Foundation Anniversary..
August 21 is a relevant date for Filipinos, because during this day, the nation commemorates the sacrifice of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. This year marks the 26th anniversary of Ninoy Aquino's assassination back in August 21, 1983 when he was shot in the head upon returning to Philippine soil amidst heated political turmoil.Although, the results of the case remain in questionable shadows, the Filipino people is sure of one thing - that Ninoy, as the hero he is, died for a worthy cause - the freedom and democracy of the Filipino people. As his famous quotable line today remains with his memory:
"The Filipino is worth dying for."
"To commemorate the 26th Anniversary of the assassination of Ninoy Aquino and to honor the memory of President Cory Aquino, the Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Foundation is declaring August 21, 2009 as “Araw ng Dilaw”. This Friday, every freedom-loving Filipino is urged to wear something yellow. We ask everyone to light a candle as a way of keeping the spirit of Ninoy and Cory alive and of reciprocating their love for the Filipino people. Motorists are likewise encouraged to turn on their hazard lights from 6pm to 7pm as a sign that the Yellow Spark has been ignited in their hearts. "
August 21 is Ninoy Aquino Day and is observed as a public holiday in the Philippines.

STI Days..

August was the busiest months for all STI people, but celebration always falls and is always observed on the 21st.

Back when I was still a student, every year we would have an educational field trip. It was the most fun of all the days in a year. A whole day of competition and learning outside the campus. I still remember back then that programs were cascaded from center to center (branch to branch).

My Alma Mater: STI Southwoods

There are various games and competitions.Theres a search for Mr and Ms STI, theres a dance group contest, theres a singing contest, website development contest. For me I joined the Quiz Competition. When I was in second year, the college dean invited me to Join Tagisan ng Talino, I was the youngest that time in a group of 3 as my team mates were all seniors. It was a very challenging but very rewarding at the same time. I cut my classes for a month long review, Luckily we won the cluster competition and was qualified for Nationals. I was in charge or programming and concepts. The very same thing happened the following year and the following year. The only difference was.. The last time I was the senior one and my team mates are all seniors too. For 3 straight years I always come home to Southwoods with a trophy. :)

After graduation and after working for a few companies some time, I rejoined STI again, this time as one of Staff not a student, and as a person who had the most experience in the competition I get to be involved with Tagisan ng Talino again, not as delegate, but as a coach. I get to choose the best students. Jason and Bernard whom i picked amongst all the student i handled from First to fifth year. And for the 4th time.. I Came home to Southwoods with another trophy huray huray!

Last night review before competition: At Waltermart Carmona : Jason, Aby, JC, Bernard, Me, Abe .. Tagisan Team and Web Dev Team :)

Tagisan : The stage at Tanghalang Carlos P. Romulo in RCBC Tower Makati

Team Southwoods :Bern, Me, Jason, while waiting for official openning of the competition

Tambay lang sa RCBC di pa open ang Auditorium Eh

I miss STI days.. if there’s one thing I proven true that is “A teacher has the most fun and most rewarding Job EVER!”

kulitan sa faculty : wala lang :) excuse me hindi kami lahat bading..

FarmTown FTW

I got caught, unbelievable but true.

I have long been a member of face book but rarely do I open my account. I was never too much fond of social networking sites, I only had friendster to keep in touch with old friends that I might see or might find me there. I also am not very much comfortable blogging with friendster. I keep my pictures in Multiply only because it is much easier to share it there. I mostly write my thoughts in this blog. I cant even remember when I first opened my facebook account, but I know I have one since well, I cant remember! Hehehe, but things changed drastically, facebook had me online for 4 straight hours without flipping a page. For one main reason.. FAARM TOWNNNN! rawrrrr!

Im crazy. Yeah I know... I hated flash games with so many loopholes and bugs and all and whose graphics are not well satisfactory. I find those click and drag games so lame and so not into my standard of online games. I had a little background in Programming and when im in game I always think of how programmers did things, timings, algorithms, randomness, and I always try to find the misses, after all theres no bug-proof program. All games are imperfect like how their designers are.Humans!

But.. farmtown had me..and even if there are so much bugs and glitches I still love it. I think that facebook won so many visits per day because of those games they embed in their site. What's really nice is that the games are interactive and you get to play with your friends in facebook. Those are people you really know. Facebook employs different applications and surveys which many people finds interesting. I myself maintains an online game MMORPG so I could enjoy some time with my boyfriend, chatting, chilling, playing. Chatting in YM alone is tiresome, without the webcams and all, I find it a little boring. I know there are yahoo games too, but facebook applications gave the comfort of playing and multi chatting at the same time. I also know there a tons of networking games in facebook and I receive so much invites in one day. People play different games, people have different interests. But I love only one game for now. And that is FarmTown.

What is FarmTown?

It’s a chic game for people who don’t have the luxury of time to be on every now and then. You begin as a noob with a little lot and a few money. You plant seeds and wait for them to grow, you harvest and sell those to the market. You earn revenue. Just like any other games you have experience points, it grows and you become a level higher. Each level gained will also grants you different kinds of seeds you can plant. Seeds grow ripe into a plant atleast 2 hours to max of four days and you get to choose your neighbors which are taken from the pool of your facebook friends. To earn more money and experience you can work for other farms either as harvester (which gives you money) or plower (which gives you exp and a little money too). As you level up you can design your farm according to your desire. But you need money to buy things from the market. Seeds, flowers, trees, buildings, path, fences, all has a price. You can even upgrade your lot to a much bigger size.

SweetHeart Ranch

Pardon Me. I could not come up with a better name yet. I would love to use SweetHeart in its name but i done Like using Farm or Farmland as i find it redundant. Just my personal note there. No offense to others *hands up* ..

I laid low a bit since I have reached already level 27, this is a break point for me, since lvl 27 grants planting pepper already and purchasing river segments from the market.. I intend to plant only 2 days seeds now, I don’t have to be on every two hours harvesting raspberries anymore. Afterall, facebook isn’t all I do online. Evenso, I am still addicted to this game and I have so much plans on how im going to arrange my farm later on when I have enough money to buy what I want. I drawn my dream farm and it should have 2 barns, 2 farm houses, 2 lodge and 2 mansions whoah hahahaha..i want it to look like an English Village with a big plantation and I will plant only peppers and pineapples.

But.. since i bought so much after hitting 27 i started to level more and now i am 30ish.. I have already (almost) finished most of the design, except for 2 things ..1.stone paths..2. the mansion ..wahaha..

My Farm :)

Goodbye Cory

Cory C. Aquino

Maria Corazon Conjuangco Aquino. President of the Philippines. The woman in yellow
that bravely gathered a nation to stand up and fight a regime of dictatorship. The woman so adored by many people not just in one country but the entire world. The mother of the oppressed who brought hope and changes to the lives of many Filipino people. An epitome of a leader, honest, considerate and God-fearing. The mother of Filipino Democracy..Cory ..

July 30, 2009 I went home late night, or should I say early morning, I swear I have made up my mind that I will start writing in my blog again. I thought of writing something about something else, this time not about myself, but just like those blogs that advertise and all. However, that was not my style in blogging. When I write, I put my whole heart to my topic, I only write what I know, what I experience, what I believe and what I hope.

So, writting a blog about Tie a Yellow Ribbon was rather pre empted only in my thoughts. I don’t know how to begin something I only know so little of. So next morning I researched. Amazing. It was extremely amazing how much information are available online. Google the phrase tie a yellow ribbon for Cory, or google the name Cory alone and it will pull up tons of sites. The support of the people is overwhelming. Different blogs changed colors in support for her immediate recovery. Suddenly I realize how beautiful the color yellow is. And just like Red which means love. Because of Cory. To me Yellow should mean Compassion.

Once again Cory brought a nation together, political opponents prayed together, the rich and the poor vigiled in one harmony. There was peace. Everyone was praying for a miracle. To aid in the illness of a woman who had been a great mother, wife and a leader.
Cory a woman of valor inspired many people to cling to the Lord at all times. The love of God will always pour mercy upon those who ask for it, theres no discrimination, all is fair in life or death.

Aug 1, 2009 1:00am, I wrote a draft about how im going to write my “tie a yellow ribbon” version in my blog and I slept in joy because I was able to do something else aside from writing about myself and gaming. I was touched by those online prayers I read and those supports I have seen online. I woke up very early to have this typed in my PC but news had it. Cory passed away already. I was late.

I did not continue typing that article anymore, I stayed on the TV for a little bit more. Theres an evident atmosphere of loneliness in all the stations. But that was expected. After all Cory was not an ordinary woman. She was a mother of a nation with an extraordinary virtue. Her death proved even more that no matter how much differences we have as individuals, we can be united together by one man..or Rather.. one Woman.

Cory. We will miss you .

My sister worked with oDesk a year ago, When we still live in the old house, with internet connection and a working PC. I know only a little about her assignment but what I do know is she serves as an assistant to a broker, a person dealing with lots, realties, properties etc. Her main obligation is to propose a certain property to prospective buyers, she does area research to help the buyers in decision making and to promote selling their properties. Her bestfriends are tools available online. Google Maps FTW! From our house PC she calls the clients and maintains constant communication with her boss during her online times. She even enjoys a free VOIP access a privilege given by her boss for her own convinience

My sister maintains a fulltime job as a call center agent in Makati, that’s atleast 1 hour drive away from where we live. As soon as she’s home she works on oDesk for 3-4 hours, wearing her house blouse and also doing her personal stuff and sometime cuddling with my dog too!. oDesk is really convenient, afterall you get to work wherever you like as long as you have internet connection.
